Update: House Bill 277

House Bill 277 was signed by the lousy governor on March 24. We are just one step closer to becoming a theocracy. Living in the bible belt sucks sometimes. Here is a recap of this bill:

  • AN ACT relating to the promotion of history and declaring an emergency.
  • Create a new section of KRS Chapter 6 and amend KRS 7.090 to direct the Legislative Research Commission to display the national motto "In God We Trust" on the wall directly above and behind the dais of the Speaker of the House of Representatives; require the display to be consistent with the historic and patriotic display in the United States House of Representatives.

It appears that the statements above are now law in Kentucky. I ask that you not vote for the representatives and senators who voted for this law. We must let them know where we stand. This is a sad time in politics in this country. The conservatives and religious right have lost their minds lately. I hope it’s just a phase. One day they will realize it’s better to grow up than be born again.
